It is also the color of education, as it represents wisdom and intelligence. Although lions are represented on Baku´s coat of arms, in the relief on the Double Gates in Icheri Sheher, that Shirvan possibly means protector of lion, and they roamed this land prior to the 10 th century, the lion here is first and foremost a British symbol. The wavy mane reminds us of the Baku winds, and also has the shape of fire. Lion symbolism in English heraldry is very common, where it is often used as an emblem because of lion-like traits such as honor, courage, strength and leadership. Other symbolic attributes of the lion include wisdom, power, protection, consistency, dignity, justice, balance and sound judgment. Many of these are values are representative of an educational institution.
